As we approach the highly anticipated release of season 2 of 'Squid Game', controversy arises with a plagiarism lawsuit. An Indian director, Soham Shah, has filed a lawsuit against Netflix, claiming that the popular series copied elements from his 2009 film, 'Luck'

    Details of the Lawsuit

According to a Bloomberg report,  Shah's lawsuit was filed in a New York fedral court, where he labeled 'Squid Game' a "blatant rip-off" of his Hindi film. 'Luck' tells the story of a group of desperate individuals who are drawn into a series of deadly competitive games for the chance to win substantial sums of money- an eerily similar premise to that of 'Squid Game'

Shah is seeking unspecified damages and an injunction to prevent Netflix from marketing and streaming 'Squid Game' until the matter is resolved. He argues that the similarities in plot, characters, themes, mood, setting, and seqence of events are too significant to be coincidental.

    Netflix's Response

In response to the allegations, a Netflix spokesperson stated, "This claim has no merit. 'Squid Game' was created by and written by Hwang Dong-hyuk, and we intend to defend this matter vigorously." The streaming giant is prepared to fight the lawsuit as the release date approaches.

    The Impact of 'Squid Game'

'Squid Game' has made history as Netflix's biggest hit of 2022 and the first foreign-language series to sweep the EmmyAwards. With its gripping narrative and intense competition, it has captivated audiences worldwide.

    Release Date for Season 2

Mark your calenders! Season 2 of 'Squid Game' is set to premiere on December 26,2024.

With the ongoing lawsuit, fans are eager to see how this will affect the launch and overall reception of the new season.
